Instagram has rolled out a new AI-powered feature that allows users to apply voice effects to their direct messages, aiming to make conversations more interactive and expressive.

The feature, called **AI Voice Effects for Voice Notes**, enables users to transform their voice messages into different character-style effects while preserving the original tone, rhythm, and emotion. It adds a creative layer to everyday chats by letting users experiment with how their voice sounds before sending a message.

With this update, users can record a voice note in a DM and choose from a range of voice effects. Once the message is sent, recipients can see which effect was used and even tap to mimic the same effect in their reply, encouraging more playful back-and-forth interactions.

To use the feature, users can open a DM thread, tap the voice message record button, and access the Voice Effects option in the composer. They can then record a message, preview different effects in real time, and select one before sending.

The addition reflects Instagram’s broader push to integrate AI-driven creative tools across its platform, making communication more dynamic and personalised.

By combining voice messaging with AI effects, Instagram is looking to enhance user engagement and keep conversations fresh, particularly among younger audiences who increasingly favour audio-based interactions.
