Infosys Taps Cognition to Roll Out ‘Devin’ Across Global Engineering Operations

Infosys has announced a collaboration with US-based AI startup Cognition to deploy Devin, billed as the world’s first AI software engineer, across its internal engineering teams and client engagements worldwide.

The partnership will integrate Cognition’s agentic AI capabilities with Infosys Topaz Fabric, the company’s multi-layer AI services platform that brings together infrastructure, data, models, applications and workflows into a unified system.

Infosys has been testing Devin internally for the past six months and reported gains in engineering quality and operational efficiency. Under the agreement, the AI agent will be embedded within Infosys’ internal engineering operations, incorporated into client delivery models and deployed within customer engineering environments.

The two companies will also co-develop shared engineering frameworks and enablement programmes to scale adoption across industries. According to Infosys, the combined use of Devin and Topaz Fabric will help automate brownfield engineering, reduce technical debt and support large-scale modernisation initiatives. This includes creating “virtual engineers” to manage complex production and maintenance tasks.

“Infosys Topaz Fabric and Devin together offer unmatched capability from real-time developer augmentation to fully autonomous engineering execution. Infosys is the first large digital services and consulting firm to deploy agentic tools at this scale,” Scott Wu, founder and CEO of Cognition, said in a statement.

“By integrating Cognition’s advanced agentic and autonomous engineering expertise with our industry-leading domain and delivery capabilities, we are creating a differentiated value proposition for the market,” Salil Parekh, CEO and MD, Infosys, added.
