IBM today announced the launch of its Power11 server platform, marking the first major upgrade to its Power line since 2020. Unveiled concurrently in Armonk and Munich, Power11 introduces a suite of full-stack enhancements—from silicon to software—designed for uninterrupted enterprise operations and simplified AI deployment.

The Power11 architecture delivers 99.9999% uptime, eliminating planned maintenance downtime via autonomous patching and workload migration, while ensuring ransomware threats are detected in under one minute through its integrated Power Cyber Vault.

Enhanced performance is also a priority, with up to 55% faster core speeds versus Power9 and 45% more capacity on mid-range and entry configurations compared to Power10.

Key to IBM’s AI strategy is full support for its upcoming Spyre Accelerator, a system-on-chip engineered for AI inference workloads, set to arrive in Q4 2025. Power11 delivers twice the performance per watt relative to comparable x86 servers, with an Energy Efficient Mode offering up to 28% additional savings.

“With Power11, clients can accelerate into the AI era with innovations tailored to their most pressing business needs. We are taking advantage of the full IBM stack to deliver hybrid cloud, AI, and automation capabilities while building on our decades-long reputation as a trustworthy hybrid infrastructure for essential workloads,” Tom McPherson, GM of Power Systems, said.

Power11 solutions will be available from July 25, offering high-end, mid-range, and entry-level configurations, alongside the Power Virtual Server in IBM Cloud, certified for SAP's RISE programme.

With integrated hardware, autonomous infrastructure, hybrid cloud flexibility, and robust cyber defenses, IBM positions Power11 as a comprehensive platform tailored for mission-critical enterprise workloads in the AI era.
