Co-founder [Clem Delangue](https://www.linkedin.com/in/clementdelangue/?ref=theleftshift.com) emphasized affordability and transparency, stating these robots are open-source to prevent robotics from being monopolized by big tech using opaque systems.

The launch builds on Hugging Face’s April [acquisition of Pollen Robotics](https://www.theleftshift.com/hugging-face-acquires-pollen-robotics-to-advance-open-source-humanoid-robots/) and follows its recent initiatives like the[ LeRobot AI platform](https://github.com/huggingface/lerobot?ref=theleftshift.com) and the SO-101 robotic arm developed with The Robot Studio.

> At Hugging Face—in robotics and across all AI fields—we believe in a future where AI and robots are open-source, transparent, and affordable; community-built and safe; hackable and fun. We've had so much mutual understanding and passion working with the Pollen Robotics team over the past year that we decided to join forces! -Thomas Wolf, Co-founder at Hugging Face, said.
