Hugging Face has deepened its expansion into robotics with the launch of two new open-source humanoid robots: HopeJR and Reachy Mini.

HopeJR is a full-size robot featuring 66 degrees of freedom, allowing it to walk and move its arms.

Reachy Mini, designed for desktops, can move its head, talk, listen, and serves as a platform for testing AI applications.

Co-founder Clem Delangue emphasized affordability and transparency, stating these robots are open-source to prevent robotics from being monopolized by big tech using opaque systems.

The launch builds on Hugging Face’s April acquisition of Pollen Robotics and follows its recent initiatives like the LeRobot AI platform and the SO-101 robotic arm developed with The Robot Studio.

At Hugging Face—in robotics and across all AI fields—we believe in a future where AI and robots are open-source, transparent, and affordable; community-built and safe; hackable and fun. We've had so much mutual understanding and passion working with the Pollen Robotics team over the past year that we decided to join forces! -Thomas Wolf, Co-founder at Hugging Face, said.
