Google’s Gemini Now Automatically Summarises Emails in Gmail

Google is expanding Gemini’s capabilities within Gmail by introducing automatic email summaries.

Initially requiring users to tap a “Summarise this email” button, the new update enables Gemini to display summaries at the top of messages where it detects usefulness—such as long threads or emails with multiple replies. These summaries dynamically update as the conversation evolves.

This AI-powered feature aims to make reading lengthy emails easier, particularly on mobile devices.

However, it’s currently limited to English and only available on Android and iOS Gmail apps.

The rollout is gradual and accessible to Google Workspace users, Google One AI Premium subscribers, and Gemini Education users.

Part of Google’s May Workspace feature drop, this update also introduces Gemini-powered summaries in Google Chat’s Home view and a new summary block in Docs.

Additionally, NotebookLM, Google’s AI research tool, now offers interactive Mind Maps to visualize connections between ideas and enhance comprehension during research.

Recently, Google expanded access to its powerful Veo 3 text-to-video AI model to 71 new countries following its debut at I/O 2025.

Though India, the EU, and the UK are not included, Google’s VP Josh Woodward confirmed that Indian availability is coming soon.

Interestingly, Google made Veo 3 available in Pakistan, ahead of India.
