On April 10, Google announced major updates to its AI coding tool, Gemini Code Assist, now in preview, *TechCrunch* [reported](https://techcrunch.com/2025/04/09/gemini-code-assist-googles-ai-coding-assistant-gets-agentic-upgrades/?ref=theleftshift.com). 

The upgraded version introduces “agentic” features—AI agents that can handle complex, multi-step programming tasks like:

- Building apps from specs in Google Docs
- Translating code between languages
- Adding new features
- Generating unit tests

A new Kanban board interface helps track work and manage progress more effectively.

Gemini Code Assist is now also integrated into Android Studio, expanding its reach beyond existing platforms.
