Google Now Wants to Make Films & TV Series

Google has launched a new film and TV production initiative aimed at funding and co-producing content, Business Insider reported.

The initiative, dubbed "100 Zeros," is a multi-year collaboration with Range Media Partners, a talent management and production firm behind films like A Complete Unknown and Longlegs.

Through this partnership, Google aims to identify and support promising projects while also showcasing its latest technologies—including AI and spatial computing tools that blend virtual and physical experiences.

According to the report, "100 Zeros" was involved in marketing last year’s indie horror film Cuckoo, and is listed as one of the film’s producers on the entertainment platform Letterboxd.

The initiative is not tied to YouTube as a distribution platform. Instead, Google and Range Media intend to pitch and sell projects to traditional studios and major streaming services, including Netflix.

The move comes as the entertainment industry faces mounting production costs and potential U.S. tariffs on foreign-made films.

Google and Range Media had previously announced an 18-month partnership to fund films centered on artificial intelligence. The first two titles under that agreement — Sweetwater and LUCID — are expected to premiere later this year.

“Amid the ever-shifting landscape of Hollywood, we can’t imagine a better partner than Google to help filmmakers and other high-end creatives unlock their deepest ambitions in storytelling. We are excited to launch this short film program as a first step to create an extraordinary pipeline for the next blockbuster features,” Peter Micelli, CEO of Range said.
