Google and DeepMind Unveil AI Tool to Rival Adobe, Canva
The tool helps companies generate scalable, on-brand social media campaigns with minimal effort.
Google Labs, in collaboration with DeepMind, has launched Pomelli, an AI-powered marketing experiment designed specifically for small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
Pomelli’s arrival marks a notable move by Google into AI-driven marketing automation, placing it in direct competition with platforms such as Adobe and Canva.
The tool, currently rolling out in public beta across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, helps companies generate scalable, on-brand social media campaigns with minimal effort.
"Pomelli is an AI marketing tool designed to help SMBs more easily generate scalable, on-brand social media campaigns to help grow their businesses," Google said.
Pomelli simplifies campaign creation through a three-step process: first it analyzes a business’s website to build a detailed “Business DNA” profile—including tone of voice, visuals, and brand colours.

Second, it generates campaign ideas that align with that identity. Finally, it creates editable assets like social posts, banners or adverts ready for use across multiple channels. Users can input their own prompts to fine-tune the output.
By using this brand-centric automation, Pomelli aims to reduce the time, budget and design expertise typically needed for marketing. Google says the tool targets SMBs that lack dedicated creative teams.
As the company states, “Creating impactful, on-brand content can often require significant investment … For small to medium-sized businesses, this can be a major obstacle.”
As Google tests the concept, SMBs have an opportunity to leverage advanced AI tools previously reserved for larger enterprises. The experiment underscores Google’s broader push to democratize AI applications across business functions.
