Gemini Hits 750 Mm Users, Narrows Gap With ChatGPT as Google Doubles Down on AI Push

Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has surged past 750 million monthly active users, underscoring explosive adoption and intensifying competition in the global AI race, the company revealed in its Q4 2025 earnings.

The figure marks a sharp jump from 650 million users last quarter, signaling rapid growth as Gemini cements itself as a major consumer AI platform. While the chatbot still trails ChatGPT’s estimated 810 million users, it now comfortably outpaces Meta AI’s roughly 500 million monthly users.

The milestone follows the rollout of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced model yet. CEO Sundar Pichai called the launch a “positive driver,” highlighting deeper, more nuanced responses and strong user momentum. He said continued investment and iteration would sustain growth.

To expand its reach, Google recently introduced a $7.99-per-month Google AI Plus plan aimed at budget-conscious users. Though too new to impact quarterly results, the subscription is expected to accelerate adoption. The company is also leaning on both free and paid tiers to scale usage.

Gemini’s rise comes as Alphabet crossed $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time, fueled partly by AI demand. Google is also ramping up infrastructure, unveiling its new Ironwood TPU chip to compete with NVIDIA and power next-generation AI workloads.
