Figma Weaves AI Into Design with Weavy Acquisition
The move expands Figma’s capabilities beyond traditional interface design into full-scale media creation.
Design platform leader Figma has acquired Israeli startup Weavy, known for its node-based generative AI editing tools, to create its new division branded Figma Weave.
The move expands Figma’s capabilities beyond traditional interface design into full-scale media creation, encompassing image, video, animation, motion-design and VFX.
Weavy’s platform allows creators to combine multiple AI models (such as Seedance, Sora, Veo, Flux, Ideogram) within a unified browser-based canvas, offering a node-based workflow where users can branch, remix and refine outputs without leaving the workspace.
“This node-based approach brings a new level of craft and control to AI generation. Outputs can be branched, remixed, and refined, combining creative exploration with iteration and craft. The Weavy team has inspired us with the balance they’ve struck between simplicity, approachability, and power. They’ve also created a tool that’s just a joy to use,” said Figma CEO Dylan Field in the announcement.
The acquisition brings fewer than 20 Weavy employees into Figma’s global team and establishes a new research and innovation hub in Tel Aviv. Financial terms were not disclosed.
With this strategic move, Figma is positioning itself at the forefront of the evolving “creative stack,” enabling designers and media professionals to work seamlessly across prototyping, generative media and motion workflows within a single platform.
