Figma to Introduce India Data Residency as It Deepens Enterprise Presence
The company is deepening engagement with leading Indian enterprises, including Airtel, CARS24, Flipkart, Groww, Juspay, Myntra, Swiggy, TCS and Zomato.
Figma is accelerating its India expansion with the rollout of new enterprise governance capabilities and plans to introduce local data residency starting next quarter, reinforcing its focus on large and regulated organisations in the country.
The move comes months after Figma’s official India launch in November and follows the opening of its Bengaluru office. The company is deepening engagement with leading Indian enterprises, including Airtel, CARS24, Flipkart, Groww, Juspay, Myntra, Swiggy, TCS and Zomato.
“Hot on the heels of our Bengaluru office opening, we’re continuing to invest in the India market,” said Scott Pugh, vice president of sales and general manager, Asia Pacific, at Figma. “India is home to our second-largest active user base globally, and we’re listening to the needs of the market. Local data storage and enhanced governance will open up Figma to even more companies in India.”
According to Figma, users in India created more than 35 million files over the past year. The upcoming data localisation feature will allow enterprise customers to store design files and content from products such as FigJam, Make, Sites, Buzz and Slides within India.
The capability is particularly aimed at organisations in highly regulated sectors, including public services, healthcare and financial services.
Freecharge by Axis Bank and IDFC First Bank will be among the first customers to pilot local file hosting, which is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026. With this addition, India will join Australia, Europe and the US as a data residency region for Figma.
“By strengthening its commitment to data protection and privacy, Figma enables us to design with confidence as we build future-ready, simple, secure and reliable ways for millions of Indians to bank every day,” said Govind Krishna, associate director of design at Freecharge by Axis Bank.
In parallel, Figma has launched Governance+ for Indian enterprises, offering centralised access controls, network restrictions, enhanced account security and compliance-focused tools to help organisations manage risk as design workflows scale.
