EXL has completed its acquisition of AI data and model evaluation company iMerit, marking a major step in expanding its enterprise AI capabilities. Financial details of the deal are not disclosed.

The deal combines EXL's expertise in data, AI and industry-specific solutions with iMerit's strengths in [AI model](https://www.theleftshift.com/anthropic-launches-claude-opus-5-bringing-near-frontier-ai-performance-at-half-the-cost/) training, evaluation and reinforcement learning.

By integrating iMerit's AI data capabilities with EXL's existing AI platforms, the company plans to offer end-to-end support for enterprises looking to move AI projects from pilot stages to large-scale deployment.

As part of the acquisition, iMerit founder and CEO [Radha Basu](https://www.linkedin.com/in/radha-basu-b181225/?ref=theleftshift.com) has joined EXL as Executive Vice President, Head of iMerit, and will serve on the company's executive committee.

Reflecting on iMerit's 12-year journey in a LinkedIn [post](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7490173050085216256/?ref=theleftshift.com), Basu recalled its beginnings with a small team in the Sundarbans and highlighted its evolution into a trusted AI partner for industries including autonomous mobility, healthcare, high-tech and robotics.

She reiterated her belief that "better-quality data, not more data" is the future of AI and credited the company's success to its people-first culture, gender-balanced workforce, customers, investors and employees.

*"Today iMerit, an EXL company, is ready for what's next. To become part of a much bigger journey - with a deep commitment to clients, to EXL and with the same two feet on the ground. And still, at this juncture, I remain unmoved in the belief that true breakthroughs happen at the intersection of people and machines," Basu said.*

*"By combining iMerit's capabilities with EXL's domain expertise and AI platforms, we are well positioned to help clients build, fine-tune and operationalise AI that performs reliably in production. This is especially critical in regulated industries where domain knowledge, context and compliance are non-negotiable,"* [*Rohit Kapoor*](https://www.linkedin.com/in/rohitkapoorexl/?ref=theleftshift.com)*, EXL Chairman and CEO, said in a statement.*
