Domyn today announced the launch of its Global Financial Services Division, a sovereign AI research unit designed to transform how financial institutions adopt and deploy artificial intelligence across mission-critical businesses.

The company argues that traditional hyperscaler solutions—built on massive, multi-tenant Large Language Models (LLMs)—are ill-suited for financial services because they rely on uncontrolled data, operate as opaque black boxes, and fail to meet governance and compliance needs.

Instead, the startup is introducing sovereign AI architecture, offering agentic platforms and dedicated models in fully segregated environments. This setup provides banks, insurers, and asset managers with complete ownership of their data, models, and intellectual property.

“Financial AI must be more than just Large Language Models. The new paradigm combines LLMs with knowledge graphs, AI-empowered financial models, and governance within institution-controlled environments. That’s the future we are building – AI that financial institutions can own, trust, and scale on their terms,” Stefano Pasquali, Senior Vice President of Financial Services Solutions at Domyn, said.

Pasquali, a former BlackRock Managing Director, will lead the division. At BlackRock, he founded the Investment AI Team, focusing on explainable AI, scalable analytics, and advanced tools for trading and risk management.

Domyn is also investing in proprietary models and building Europe’s largest supercomputer to advance forecasting tools and knowledge search.

“When major institutions process trillions in daily transactions, they need AI that never leaves their infrastructure. Domyn stands alone in pioneering sovereign AI research designed to meet these mission-critical demands,” Uljan Sharka, CEO of Domyn, added.

The company is already working with asset managers and banks, including Intesa Sanpaolo and Allianz, while partnering with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Cisco to secure deployments.
