CrowdStrike to Acquire SGNL to Expand Continuous, Real-Time Identity Security for AI and Non-Human Identities
SGNL acts as a runtime enforcement layer, continuously evaluating identity, device, and behavioral signals to adjust access in real time and eliminate standing privileges.
CrowdStrike has agreed to acquire SGNL, a specialist in Continuous Identity, in a move aimed at strengthening its Next-Gen Identity Security portfolio as organisations grapple with the rise of AI-driven and non-human identities.
The deal, announced January 8, will allow CrowdStrike to continuously grant and revoke access for human users, non-human identities (NHIs), and AI agents based on real-time risk signals.
“AI agents operate with superhuman speed and access, making every agent a privileged identity that must be protected,” said George Kurtz, CEO and founder of CrowdStrike. “With SGNL, CrowdStrike will deliver continuous, real-time access control that eliminates the known and unknown gaps from legacy standing privileges. We’re disrupting the premise of modern privilege and access – for every identity, human or machine. This is identity security built for the AI era.”
Identity security is one of cybersecurity’s fastest-growing segments, with IDC projecting the market to expand from about $29 billion in 2025 to $56 billion by 2029.
As AI agents and NHIs proliferate across SaaS platforms and hyperscaler cloud environments, traditional static access models are increasingly viewed as inadequate.
CrowdStrike said integrating SGNL will extend dynamic authorization across major identity systems and cloud access layers, complementing its Falcon® platform, which already unifies identity protection, privileged access management, and threat detection across hybrid environments.
SGNL acts as a runtime enforcement layer, continuously evaluating identity, device, and behavioral signals to adjust access in real time and eliminate standing privileges.
“The world needs our technology to eradicate the significant risk that legacy standing privileges expose in today and tomorrow’s environments. Joining CrowdStrike provides us with global scale natively through cybersecurity’s leading platform to transform enterprise security with Continuous Identity, furthering CrowdStrike’s mission of stopping breaches,” said Scott Kriz, CEO and co-founder of SGNL.
The transaction is expected to close in CrowdStrike’s first quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions, with the purchase price paid primarily in cash and partially in stock tied to vesting conditions.
