CoreWeave to Acquire OpenPipe, Expanding Reinforcement Learning Capabilities for AI Labs

AI hyperscaler CoreWeave, Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire OpenPipe Inc., a leading platform for training AI agents with reinforcement learning (RL). The move strengthens CoreWeave’s technology stack, adding advanced RL and fine-tuning capabilities to its growing AI cloud ecosystem.

This follows the recent acquisition of Core Scientific, one of North America’s largest Bitcoin miners, in a $1.6 billion all-stock deal.

OpenPipe’s platform is widely adopted by developers for post-training AI agents on unique workflows, enabling them to learn from experience and improve in accuracy, performance, and reliability over time.

Its toolkit, Agent Reinforcement Trainer (ART), is one of the most popular open-source RL frameworks and includes tools that adapt AI models to new tasks without complex retraining.

“Reinforcement learning is emerging as a pivotal force to strengthen model performance on agentic and reasoning tasks,” said Brian Venturo, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, CoreWeave. “By combining OpenPipe’s advanced self-learning tools with CoreWeave’s high-performance AI cloud, we’re expanding our platform to give developers at AI labs and beyond an important advantage in building scalable intelligent systems.”
Kyle Corbitt, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of OpenPipe, added: “Our technology helps customers train highly reliable agents, bridging the gap between prototype and production. Together with CoreWeave, we can accelerate that vision and bring our technology to a wider set of enterprises.”

Earlier this year, CoreWeave signed a five-year contract worth $11.9 billion with OpenAI to provide its AI infrastructure to OpenAI.
