Cloudflare Acquires Replicate to Deepen Support for Open-Source AI Models

Cloudflare has announced the acquisition of Replicate, a leading platform for running AI models.

"Replicate has become the definitive hub for developers to discover, share, fine-tune, and experiment with the latest models in a public playground," Rita Kozlov, VP of Product, Cloudflare and Ben Firshman, founder and CEO at Replicate, wrote in a blog post.

Cloudflare says the integration brings Replicate’s entire catalog — over 50,000 open-source and fine-tuned models — directly into its Workers AI platform.

This means developers will soon be able to run inference, fine-tune custom models, and spin up AI-powered workflows, all on Cloudflare’s global, serverless GPU network.

Existing Replicate users will continue using their APIs uninterrupted, but will now benefit from the performance and reliability of Cloudflare’s edge infrastructure. For users of Workers AI, the deal unlocks an expanded model catalog, and the ability to run custom fine-tuned models on Cloudflare’s platform

Cloudflare’s vision is to unify the best of both worlds: the flexibility of Replicate’s model ecosystem with Cloudflare’s high-speed, globally distributed runtime. The company plans to integrate fine-tuning tools powered by Replicate’s Cog system — making it easier to bring custom models into production on Workers AI.

Executives at Cloudflare expressed excitement about the shared mission: enabling developers to “build full-stack applications” where AI is deeply embedded and globally available.

With this acquisition, Cloudflare strengthens its position in the rapidly growing “AI Cloud” space, offering streamlined access to powerful models, real-time inference, and end-to-end control.
