Cisco to Acquire Galileo in AI Observability Push

Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Galileo, an AI observability startup, to strengthen its capabilities in monitoring and securing next-generation AI systems.

Galileo specialises in tools that evaluate AI model performance, detect errors before they reach users, and monitor multi-agent systems in real time.

Cisco plans to integrate Galileo’s technology into its Splunk Observability Cloud platform, enhancing its ability to provide end-to-end visibility across the AI agent development lifecycle.

"Galileo will strengthen Cisco’s Splunk Observability portfolio and supercharge our current AI Agent Monitoring capabilities in Splunk Observability Cloud, giving customers real-time visibility and protection into the full agent development lifecycle (ADLC)," Kamal Hathi, Splunk Sr. VP & General Manager, said in a blog post.

According to Hathi, Galileo's acquisition will help address emerging risks associated with AI systems, including hallucinations, bias, and unpredictable behavior, which traditional monitoring tools are not designed to handle.

"Cisco has been a global powerhouse in observability and security for decades. By joining forces, we aren’t just scaling; we’re turbocharging Galileo’s mission to deliver world-class value to our customers at a massive scale. From day 1 of our conversations with Splunk and more broadly with Cisco, the synergies in vision, execution velocity, and culture have been palpable," Vikram Chatterji, Galileo Co-founder & CEO, said.

By combining observability with security signals, Cisco aims to give enterprises deeper insights into how AI agents perform in real-world environments.

The deal, for which financial terms were not disclosed, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Cisco’s fiscal year 2026. Both companies will continue to operate independently until the transaction is completed.
