Cisco Acquires EzDubs to Make Real-Time, Voice-Preserving Translation Core to Webex

Cisco has announced its intent to acquire EzDubs, a startup that pioneered real-time speech-to-speech translation across 31 languages, to bring highly natural, AI-driven voice translation directly into its Webex collaboration suite.

EzDubs, founded in 2023 by Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy, Amrutavarsh Kinagi, and Kareem Nassar, had raised $4.2 million in seed funding led by Venture Highway, with support from Replit executives and other prominent tech investors. Nassar, a former member of Cisco’s own Speech AI group, brings deep experience in real-time speech systems.

In a blog announcement, Snorre Kjesbu, SVP and General Manager of Cisco Collaboration, said: “The EzDubs team will join Cisco Collaboration, working side-by-side with our product, engineering, and go-to-market teams. Together, we will chart a new course for the industry, one where AI doesn’t just support collaboration, but truly empowers it.”

Cisco intends to integrate EzDubs’s voice translation directly into its Webex platform, offering live translation that preserves not just words but the speaker’s original tone and emotion.

According to Cisco, this acquisition marks an “all-in” bet on AI: it promises to make collaboration more seamless, inclusive, and borderless by breaking down language barriers in real time.

The EzDubs team will join Cisco’s Collaboration division to help enhance future Webex experiences for customers, partners, and developers alike.
