BMW Sold in China Will Have DeepSeek AI
Other Chinese automobile makers such as Geely, Zeekr, and Dongfeng have also integrated DeepSeek AI into their vehicles

BMW is set to integrate AI features from Chinese firm DeepSeek into its vehicles in China, CEO Oliver Zipse announced at the Shanghai Auto Show, Reuters reported.
"Key advances in AI are happening here. We are strengthening AI partnerships for integration in our vehicles in China. Starting later this year we will integrate AI integration from DeepSeek in our new vehicles in China," he said.
However, it's unlikely that DeepSeek's AI models will feature in other markets BMW operates in, like Europe or the US.
In the US, President Donald Trump has signaled a potential ban on DeepSeek over national security concerns. Agencies like NASA and the U.S. Navy have already restricted their use among personnel.
Meanwhile, in China, automakers including Geely, Zeekr, and Dongfeng are racing ahead—leveraging DeepSeek’s cutting-edge AI in their latest vehicles.
Earlier this year, DeepSeek shook the tech world with its open-source large language models, positioning itself as a direct rival to AI giants like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
