# AWS Names Saurov Sarkar to Lead Emerging Enterprise Business in India

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has appointed [Saurov Sarkar](https://www.linkedin.com/in/saurov/?skipRedirect=true&ref=theleftshift.com) to lead a new business charter focused on emerging enterprises in India, as the cloud major looks to accelerate adoption of AI and cloud technologies among the country’s next generation of businesses.

In a LinkedIn post, Sarkar said the mandate will focus on working with emerging enterprises at the intersection of AI and cloud, with the goal of making these technologies more accessible while helping businesses address growth and technology challenges.

The new charter comes as Indian businesses increasingly look to cloud infrastructure and AI to modernise operations, develop new digital products and compete in a rapidly changing technology landscape. 

AWS has been expanding its focus on [startups](https://www.theleftshift.com/top-5-voice-ai-startups-in-india-in-2026/) and emerging businesses while also pushing generative AI and cloud services across Indian enterprises.

Sarkar has spent more than seven years at AWS, most recently serving as Head of Enterprise Applications & Marketplace Sales for India and the Subcontinent, where he led sales across enterprise applications, SAP, Marketplace and applied AI. 

Previously, he led ERP on AWS and SAP on AWS businesses, driving enterprise migrations, cloud modernisation, customer adoption and strategic partnerships across India.

His career includes leadership positions at SAP, HP and Tata Consultancy Services ([TCS](https://www.theleftshift.com/tcs-launches-agenthub-to-put-agentic-ai-to-work-in-drug-development/)), where he worked across enterprise sales, business growth and technology transformation.

The appointment adds to AWS’s efforts to deepen its engagement with India’s expanding enterprise ecosystem, particularly businesses seeking to move beyond experimentation with AI and cloud toward broader deployment and business transformation.
