Real-time engagement platform Agora has partnered with Exotel, a cloud-based customer engagement company, to integrate its Conversational AI Engine with Exotel’s AgentStream platform. The collaboration aims to enable enterprises to deploy plug-and-play AI voice bots across PSTN, WhatsApp, in-app, and WebRTC channels.

By combining Agora’s conversational AI capabilities with Exotel’s programmable voice streaming infrastructure, the partnership seeks to deliver human-like, low-latency voice interactions at scale.

The companies plan to power 50–100 million AI-led voice interactions annually across India and the Middle East, automating up to 40% of routine queries and reducing operational costs by as much as 30%.

Tony Zhao, CEO and co-founder of Agora, said the alliance meets a growing enterprise need for scalable AI solutions that simulate natural human interactions. “Our partnership with Exotel combines the strengths of Agora’s Conversational AI Engine with Exotel’s robust programmable voice infrastructure, making it easier for enterprises to deploy AI agents that enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency,” he said.

Exotel co-founder and COO Sachin Bhatia added that the integration simplifies the AI deployment process. “Exotel’s programmable streaming infrastructure allows technology providers like Agora to focus on intelligence and experience, while we power the connectivity behind it,” he said.

Currently, Exotel supports over 25 billion annual conversations for more than 7,000 enterprises worldwide across sectors like BFSI, healthcare, logistics, and e-commerce.

Together, Agora and Exotel aim to advance enterprise-ready voice AI systems that combine real-time responsiveness with human-like nuance, driving smarter, more efficient customer engagement.
